At Home With… Ellie Land
Monday 13th July 2020
Ellie Land designs and directs animations that communicate complex or difficult subjects – renowned for using emotive storytelling with compelling design. Her work is based in the factual realm using captured accounts to uncover untold stories and underexposed subjects such as her latest short co-directed with Rupert Williams Bathroom Privileges 2019, which investigates the public bathroom as a space of privilege denying access to marginalised communities. Irene’s Ghost 2018 is a live action feature film, for which Land created animated segments, that revealed memories and dreams of a man searching for the meaning of his mother’s death. Psychological themed narratives are also common in Land’s work, such as Sleepless 2015 which explores circadian rhythms and their impact on a variety of mental health diagnosis.
