Emma Calder Tribute
at the RCA Animation Symposium, 15th November 2024
The event as it appears in the symposium programme:
This was not a London Animation Club event as such, but relates so closely to it that it seems appropriate to include it amongst the details of past events. I was asked to present a talk about Emma Calder, who passed away last month, at the RCA Animation Symposium and to show examples of her work. A lot of the RCA students had never seen Emma’s work before and were suitably impressed. Some London Animation Club former guests and speakers were visible amongst the audience.
Ilkley Moor Baht Tat (1981)
The works we showed were
Ilkley Moor Baht Tat (1981)
Madam Potatoe (1983)
The Queen’s Monastery (1998)
Three episodes of Random Person (2012 – 2018)
Beware Of Trains (2022)
I also included two clips of Emma speaking at London Animation Club in 2012, introducing Ilkley Moor Baht Tat and Madam Potatoe.
Thanks to Katerina Athanasopoulou for the photo at the top and to Tom Lowe for supplying restorations of two of the films.
